At the moment, the news about the events in Iran is overflowing. Many are talking about the strongest protests since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, which gave rise to the regime against which the resistance is now directed. But the situation is different today: New videos of the uprisings and the brutal crackdown by the security forces are circulating daily on social media. Activists who speak out against the regime, such as Masih Alinejad, who has been exiled to the USA, have several million followers online. A special role is played not only by slogans chanted on the streets, but also by songs, such as the song "Baraye Azadi" ("For Freedom") by the singer Shervin Hajipour, which has become the anthem of the resistance.
The panel discussion will address the question of the extent to which activism and art are involved in the development of the protests in Iran. Accompanying the world premiere of NEGAR by the French-Iranian composer Keyvan Chemirani in the second venue "Tischlerei" of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, this will provide an insight into the current situation in Iran.
