The composer Robert Fuchs, a student of Anton Bruckner and in later years - when his student Gustav Mahler set the tone in musical Vienna - discredited as a conservative Brahms epigone, not only wrote numerous popular operas, symphonies, serenades, choral works and chamber music works, but was also and above all a highly gifted teacher. In his class at the Vienna Conservatory, countless greats of the late Romantic period joined hands, including Korngold, Krenek, Mahler, Schreker, Sibelius, Strauss, Stolz, Wolf and Zemlinsky.
The third Tischlereikonzert will feature works by Robert Fuchs and his students Alexander von Zemlinsky, Ernst Krenek and Franz Schreker.
