From empty page to completed opera: Sara Glojnarić, Lorenzo Troiani and Sehyung (Sergej) Kim – the three winners of the NEW SCENES V International Composition Competition – are immersed in a project to produce their own thirty-minute works of musical theatre, which will receive their first airing in a joint concert in the Tischlerei in February 2021.

One year before that, in a lecture performance on 2nd February 2020, the three winners will be providing a glimpse of the work going on behind the scenes. They will speak on the thought process underlying their respective new operas and elaborate on a range of working methods and composition techniques. Each has already completed a short piece for soloist or for singer accompanied by piano, to be presented on the night by young singers of the Hanns Eisler School of Music, who will also be singing other works.
