DOLPO TULKU – RETURN TO THE HIMALAYAS
Synopsis
Sherap Sangpo leaves Dolpo and joins a Buddhist monastery in Kathmandu at the age of 10. From then on his life changes dramatically.He is recognized as a reincarnation of a high ranking Tulku and is sent for the next seventeen years to an exil monastery in South India. There he lives a student's life with mobile and laptop. But it's time to return as Dolpo Tulku. Return to his remote Himalayan region, to a place that he has grown distant to. Dolpo is one of the most isolated regions in the world, located in the north-west of Nepal bordering Tibet. Surrounded by the Himalayan mountains, only accessible by foot through 17.000 ft high passages. The region has been able to conserve its archaic Buddhist culture. But he has to take charge of several monasteries as well as be the leading figure for those deeply religious people in Dolpo. Has he got a chance to decide, to fulfill the duties as reincarnation, to develop an area in the Himalayans, which has been forgotten for the last five-hundred years, and which had therefore had the chance to preserve it's original Buddhist culture.
